Facts about Deer


  Intro

Hunting is hugely popular in New Zealand’s rural communities, and it’s often done within families.

There is clear scientific evidence that deer pose a significant and ongoing threat to New Zealand's native forests and grassland ecosystems. The fact that deer can disperse long distances means that they have the potential to spread TB and re-infect possum populations from which the disease has been eliminated.

Firstly I think Deer are wild animals that belong to the Cervidae family. It is in the order of Artiodactyla, which means mammals with even-toed hooves with each one of their feet having two small and two large hooves. Deers have about 50 species such as the reindeer, red deer, elk, white-tailed deer, and moose among others. Deer were originally found in continents such as Asia, North America, Northern Africa, Europe, and South America, they were, later on, taken to countries like the Republic of South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia.

In summary, I think Deers are cool animals but they're also pests and I think they should either be eradicated or controlled.
